What is the Radius Learning Center?
Radius Learning Center is a tuition-free homeschool enrichment program for eligible K–12 homeschool students, operated by Radius Group in partnership with Colorado Springs School District 11.
Our goal is to complement the education already happening at home with engaging classes, experienced instructors, hands-on learning, friendships, and experiences that can be difficult to provide independently.
Is Radius Learning Center tuition-free?
Yes. Eligible students participate tuition-free through our partnership with Colorado Springs School District 11.
Some specialized courses or activities may require ordinary personal supplies, clothing, or other clearly communicated items, but families do not pay tuition to participate in the Radius Learning Center program.
Does Radius replace our homeschool program?
No. Parents remain the primary educators and continue to direct their student's homeschool education.
Radius provides supplemental classes and enrichment. Families remain responsible for their home curriculum, homeschool records, testing or evaluations, and other requirements of their home-based education program.
What is a learning “track”?
A learning track is the complete Radius program your student participates in for the school year. Each track is designed to meet or exceed the program's 90 instructional-hour requirement.
A student may participate in one Radius track per school year.
How many classes does my student take in the STEAM+ Track?
Students participating in the STEAM+ Track choose exactly seven courses per semester.
Families can choose from available classes that fit their student's grade level, interests, goals, and schedule.
Can my student take fewer than seven STEAM+ classes?
No. The seven courses work together to make up the complete STEAM+ Track. Students enrolling in STEAM+ should plan to participate in all seven courses on their confirmed schedule.
Can I pay for my student to take additional Radius Learning Center classes?
No. Radius Learning Center is a tuition-free public homeschool enrichment program rather than a private à la carte class provider.
For that reason, we do not sell additional Radius Learning Center classes to enrolled students as paid add-ons. Keeping the public program separate from private purchases also helps us maintain a clear and consistent program structure for every family.
Are the classes I request guaranteed?
Not always. Course selection is a request until your student's schedule is confirmed.
Placement depends on available seats, grade level, prerequisites, staffing, classroom capacity, equipment, and whether the course is an appropriate fit for the student.
Can we change classes after our schedule has been confirmed?
Possibly, but schedule changes must be approved by Radius.
Please contact our team rather than simply attending a different class. Changes depend on availability, class capacity, student fit, and where we are in the semester.
What should I do if my student is going to be absent?
If you know about the absence in advance, please email your student's instructor at least 24 hours ahead of time whenever possible.
For illness, emergencies, or unexpected absences, contact the instructor as soon as you reasonably can.
Accurate attendance is important, so please don't rely on another parent or student to communicate an absence for you.
Can my student make up a missed Radius class by doing homeschool work at home?
Not automatically.
Your homeschool instruction at home is separate from scheduled Radius instructional time. If an extended absence or unusual circumstance will affect your student's attendance, please contact us so we can determine the appropriate next step.
What if my student is sick?
Please keep your student home when illness prevents them from participating comfortably and safely or could reasonably spread illness to others.
If your student becomes sick while at Radius, we will contact a parent or authorized adult for pickup.
How early can I drop off my student?
Please arrive in time for your student to check in and be ready when class begins.
Radius assumes supervision once a student has been properly checked in for their scheduled program. Students should not be dropped off outside, in the parking area, or on campus before Radius staff have accepted supervision.
Can my student stay at Radius between classes?
Only when the student is enrolled in a scheduled, supervised program block or has specific approval from Radius.
Radius Learning Center is not a drop-in childcare program, so students cannot remain on campus unsupervised outside their confirmed schedule.
Who can pick up my student?
Students are released only to a parent, guardian, or another adult listed on the student's approved release information.
Please keep your authorized pickup list current. Radius may request identification before releasing a student.
What happens on snow days or during severe weather?
Radius Learning Center follows Colorado Springs School District 11 weather delays and closures.
We may also modify or cancel outdoor or field-based programming when conditions make an activity unsafe.
How do Radius Adventure and field trips work?
Radius Adventure is the outdoor and field-based portion of Radius Learning Center.
Depending on the course, students may participate in hiking, climbing, rappelling, nature studies, navigation, leadership activities, and other hands-on experiences.
Families will receive information about approved locations, transportation arrangements, clothing, equipment, permissions, and other requirements when applicable.
Does Radius provide grades, transcripts, or homeschool credit?
Radius supplements your homeschool program rather than replacing it.
Unless Radius and D11 specifically establish otherwise for a particular program, Radius does not issue official homeschool transcripts, diplomas, or make the final determination regarding high-school credit. Parents remain responsible for their student's homeschool records and credit decisions.
